Mick bred harness racing horses in partnership with his brother George. As there was no racing in VIC in the 1930's these horses were shipped to Adelaide, SA and trained and driven by George. The best horse raced by the brothers was Hushyles Globe, the winner of many races in Wayville. Mick was also a SP Bookmaker for many years and operated from the Grapevine Hotel at Chiltern, VIC. Until very recently Mick and Mary's youngest son Kevin was very involved in the breeding of harness racing horses.
This is a photo of Mary Newbound (Milligan) on the left with her younger sister Wina holding the young twins of Rod and Doris Newbound born in 1940, Tom on the left and Jim on the right.
