4893 Pte Roger Irvine Newbound 5th Battalion

WW1 4893 Pte R. I. NEWBOUND, 5th Battalion, 15th Reinforcement, enlisted 16 February 1915, returned to Australia 12 May 1919.  Laboure, 21 years old and single at time of enlistment, 5'8", 142lb, 36" chest, dark complexion, blue eyes, dark brown hair in 1915.

Just a few pages from his digitised records held at the National Archives of Australia.

Sadly a family member has defaced Rod's medals in the past but we plan to have them fully restored in the near future.  They have been proudly worn by his boys, his wife Doris and his great grandson Edward (currently serving in the RAN) in ANZAC Day marches.

LEST WE FORGET
