MORRISON - NEWBOUND Wedding

The Federal Standard, Friday, February 14, 1930 p2 c4 WEDDING – MORRISON – NEWBOUND

A pretty wedding took place at the Sacred Heart Church, Barnawartha, on Wednesday morning last, the contracting parties being Mary Florence, daughter of Mr Roger Newbound, of Barnawartha, and Mr John Gorman, son of Mr John Morrison of Myrtleford. The celebrant was the parish priest, Rev J Lawless. The bride was attired in white georgette with lace, wreath and veil, and carried a bouquet of pink water lillies. She was attended by two bridesmaids, Miss Jessie Newbound, (her sister) who wore pink lace, satin trimmings, hat to match and bouquet of water lillies;  and a niece in pink and  blue embroidered voile, blue tulle head covering with pink trimmings and pink posy. The bride was given away by her brother (Mr Roger Newbound) and the best man was Mr Kevin Morrison. The bridgeroom’s present to the bride was a string of pearls and to the bridesmaids strings of pearls and bracelets. At the conclusion of the ceremony the wedding party motored into Chiltern where they partook of breakfast at the Telegraph Hotel, the tables being handsomely decorated and the dejeuner served up in Host and Hostess Smyth’s best style. Father Lawless presided and felicitous speeches were delivered by Messrs Hoare, Tooley (Albury), Brown and others. Twenty-eight guests sat down to the repast,  and a very pleasant time was passed. The honeymoon is to be spent at Sydney and the Blue Mountains, and the journey thither was begun per motor amidst showers of confetti and good wishes. The bride’s travelling dress was blue, with biscuit trimmings and hat to match.
